Please note, this event has now ended.

Join us for a day of hands-on activities on Saturday 26th July as we celebrate the amazing nature-based research at the Ulster Folk Museum!

Take a look at some objects from our natural sciences handling collection with Education Officer Nigel Gilmore-Cook, and learn more about the species on your doorstep. While you're there, why not take the opportunity to ask him any questions you might have about animals from all around the world?

Discover Freshwater Insects with our Curator of Natural Sciences, Helen James and find out how to spot species that live and grow in Northern Ireland with Amy Laird from the Centre for Environmental and Data Recording. Get involved with Ulster Wildlife's nature "treasure hunt" or take part in a Flower-Insect Timed Count with Hannah Fullerton from Buglife and Rosie Irwin from Butterfly Conservation throughout the day.

There will be plenty of opportunities to connect with nature, from investigating mini-beasts up close and creating nature-themed crafts to tasting foraged foods on site. This is a family-friendly day packed with activities designed to help you appreciate the world around you in a whole new way.
