Fascinated by fungi? Join Mark Wright for an introduction to the fungi species found in Northern Ireland on Saturday 18th October at Drumnaph Nature Reserve. 

In this workshop, Mark will introduce species of fungi found in Northern Ireland. We will look at features used to identify fungi and what resources are available to help. The introduction will take place in the training space at Drumnaph Nature Reserve where teas and coffees will be provided (please bring a packed lunch). After the introduction, we will explore the nearby grounds of Drumnaph Nature Reserve to find species to identify and put your new-found skills into practice.

Please note, this workshop takes place at Drumnaph Nature Reserve, 15 Halfgayne Rd, Maghera BT46 5PB, not at the Ulster Folk Museum.

What to know

This workshop takes place from 10:00 to 16:00 on Saturday 18th October, for ages 18+.

All levels of species identification experience are welcome!

Suitable clothing and footwear for outdoor fieldwork is essential.

Please consider bringing along sunscreen, a hat, water, and any fungi ID guides you may have.

Please bring a packed lunch as we will be out in the field most of the day.
